On this New Year’s Eve I did something different –
I attend a fantastic God-honouring Inter-church Watch Night Service at
the Transitional Cathedral.
The church was well-filled and we sung our hearts out (nearly all old
well chosen evangelical songs I knew so well). Between the songs and solos leaders of local churches spoke about: Looking back with thanksgiving;
Looking forward with hope; Remembering the suffering church,
Recommitting to Christ and Renewing the call to missions.
Particularly moving was the leader of the Anglican Church in the city
reading through a prayer of committal or re-committal to Jesus and
then turning and kneeling down facing the cross and leading us to say
it out loud along with her. I don’t think I can remember ever having
heard the gospel explained so clearly in so few words ever before as
she had done before praying.
Thanks
Janette
